Our approach enhances student progress by applying research-driven practices from cognitive and social psychology while recognising the unique profiles of each young person. We embrace neurodiversity and its impact on attention, memory, motivation, and processing, ensuring that every learner receives the support they need. By partnering with families and collaborating across school and home environments, we work to minimise the impact of barriers that may hinder academic success.
In a performance-driven education system, we advocate that learning is a lifelong, limitless journey. We empower students to become reflective, metacognitive thinkers who actively shape their educational experiences. By fostering a supportive and aspirational community, we encourage students to inspire and uplift one another, helping them reach their fullest potential.
With a first-class degree in Psychology, I entered the teaching profession to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people. After completing my PGCE with mathematics specialism, I was full of optimism and determined to make a difference. Over the years, I worked to build up my knowledge and expertise, moving into senior leadership positions and engaging in leadership pathways. For me however, building meaningful relationships has always been the most impactful aspect of my career. It often seemed that the further into leadership I went, the further away from the students I was.
Having spent over a decade as an educator across diverse settings and key stages, I have observed consistent trends: regardless of the school, demographic, attainment levels, or neurodivergence, my role often felt confined to delivering a knowledge-based curriculum focused on testing content retention. This narrow emphasis made it difficult as a class teacher to truly recognise and embrace the diversity of my students. The relentless cycle of teaching and testing left both my students and me feeling drained, demotivated, and with diminished self-esteem. Additionally, initiatives tend to be imposed from the top down, driven by buzzwords, with a greater emphasis on assessing outcomes rather than valuing the learning process.
This led to the founding of MyInTuition—an approach to education, grounded in psychology, that celebrates the uniqueness of the human mind, embraces diverse learning pathways, and empowers families to break free from restrictive labels. MyInTuition has transformed the way families approach education. From better understanding their child’s cognitive profile and perception of the world, to having meaningful insights into their exam results and removing barriers to progress, MyInTuition has instilled the confidence, self-belief, and the reasoning skills in students to allow them to thrive and surpass their expectations.
MyInTuition is now at an exciting stage, providing families with a meaningful approach to education that remains within the parameters of our standardised testing system.
